Milan fashion week update

Milan fashion week is now well underway, (three days in), so it's probably time to take a look at what's going on on the catwalks so far. My fave so far has got to be Moschino ready to wear, which features double breasted toy soldier jackets, Ra Ra flamenco skirts and gold hooped earrings.
Definitely ready-to-wear. Can anybody else see this on the red carpet?

Very cowboy-esque. Soon, they'll be adding ten-gallon hats and square-dancing down the catwalk!
Again, very ready to wear. Just think how many orders were made from that one show.

London fashion week has officially ended... next up... Milan!

With the last fashion show of London Fashion Week having started around an hour ago,  (The time being 19:15), I thought it only right to make a post recapping the designs from the best known designers. This year's PPQ Autumn/Winter 2012-13 collection leaned towards more grown-up and sophisticated, rather than the usual, fun, flirty, youthful dresses anticipated. It included warm, furry coats in shades of black or cream, as well as some stunning dresses and scarves. Moschino Cheap & Chic's new theme was make-up, as opposed to the five-a- day theme seen in Milan last year. The prints included nail varnish,lipsticks, eye-shadows, and the actual eyes themselves, whilst other designs featured cosy patchwork oversize pullovers, and an amazing top with the slogan 'make up your life', the perfect phrase to describe the theme. Meanwhile, Mulberry used the inspiration 'where the wild things are', with designs featuring lots of different types of fur, crazy abstract print coats, lace dresses, quilted jackets, and some VERY bright orange. Another feature of the week was Meadham Kirchhoff, with quite possibly the brightest designs of the week, (even the actual runway was luminous) and a seventies extravaganza theme.

Printed skirt, Lace top, one glove, and a  gorgeous clutch to match. This could only be Moschino cheap&chic.

New York fashion week: the highlights

From the 8th-16th, the first of the iconic fashion weeks took place. New York fashion week saw the latest designs of the likes of Victoria Beckham, DKNY, Lacoste, Alexander Wang, Diane Von Furstenburg, Marc Jacobs and Alice + Oliva.  Emilio Cavallini kicked off the show with Bold block colours, geometric prints, and even snakeskin and lace! The show went on to see Victoria Beckham's autumn/winter 2012-13, featuring dainty buttoned up designs in a vivid array of  sky blue, brown, orange, black and army green. She even accessorized with buckled up Louboutin boots and those amazing envelope clutches. There was also a fold over satchel named after her daughter, Harper Seven. After a hectic, but certainly amazing week, New York fashion week ended with Ralph Lauren, Brood, L'Wren Scot, Calvin Klein, Stephen Burrows and finally, Bill Blass.
Wow, that's a lot of iphones in one room.

Louboutins and Victoria Beckham - a match made in heaven!?

London fashion week

London Fashion Week is now well underway, and with so many themes, designs and possible inspirations, we now know what all those designers have been doing for the last few months! So far, we've seen a few possible trends emerging, with repeated designs featuring patchwork, brightly colored leopard print, aquamarine with gold accents, and in some cases, Aztec print (carrying on from the new high street obsession). The color scheme ranges from black, orange and hot pink, to turquoise and black with gold details. Here's some of the most eye catching examples:
Holly Fulton's Autumn/ Winter season uses a cold palette with a tropical twist for  the colder seasons.

Here the designer creates varied depth with a very limited (though bright) palette and lots of busy prints. Other designs included cocktail mini dresses, Ra-Ra skirts, Geo patterns, layered with clean-cut jackets or roll-necks in matching prints.

Meanwhile, the likes of  Henry Holland went for multicolored brights, using leopard print, neon colours mixed with pastel patchwork and snakeskin braces.

Here at House of Holland, blondes rule the catwalk, as opposed to the brunettes of Calvin Klein.

While the celebrities fill out piles of order forms, catching up with  literally hot of the catwalk trends, the less fortunate (and famous!) of us wait for the newest trends to hit the high-street.

Fashion Weeks!

This month has seen, (and still is seeing) the legendary fashion weeks of the capital cities of the world, including Milan, New York, and London. So far, the catwalks have been littered with Patchwork designs, high collared dresses and even leather dresses from the likes of Calvin Klein! This year's top designs also included some wild animal prints and LOTS of orange! (or is it red!?)

More orange and leather from the Calvin Klein fall collection. Is that a trend I see emerging?!
