My other blog...

So tonight I was doing a bit of graphic design, and I made this header for my new blog... I have to admit I'm feeling quite proud of myself now, even though it could be better. I'll make one for this blog as well, but could you check out my new one anyway, to see Le grande masterpiece (not!) up close and take a general look around... Thankyou! You can find my other (newer) blog by going to my profile then clicking it from the list of my blogs from there, or going to: www.Hollie-lurves.blogspot.com
I made this in picasa, which is free, so anyone can try it out!

Featured fashion icon: Kate Middleton

From the moment she first stepped into the spotlight, Kate Middleton, now the Duchess of Cambridge, was always destined to be a fashion trendsetter. Her outfits have inspired hundreds of copies and countless trends, so you can hardly deny her the title of fashion icon. I've put together a timeline of sorts, showing the highlights of her fashion journey. (The first two pictures are in order, the rest are not, and are just some favorites I picked out)

Kate moddeling a student designed dress at college.  The dress is now said to be worth around £100,000.

Kate when announcing her engagement to Prince William. Her royal blue chiffon style dress could be named as her most iconic, leading to hundreds of copies all over the high-street, because everyone wanted to steal her style. The dress, made by ISSA, sold out within a matter of hours after she wore it, and later a further five copies were made for sale in Selfridges for online fashion week.

Kate wore these colourful coral skinny jeans when she went to meet  team Great Britain's hockey players a the Olympic park, located in London. Being a true fashion icon, Kate wore the jeans in two different ways: dressed up with a blazer and scarf, then dressed down with a hoodie for a hockey match.
I'm completely in love with this beautiful  dress, designed by Jenny Packham, that Kate was seen wearing. I think the pale pink/pink tinted cream colour is set off perfectly by the diamante detailing, and the cinched waist looks great, too!

This is another Jenny Packham dress that Kate wore, which makes the perfect colour statement for the red carpet, going all out with a bold dress as well as a matching clutch!

The Met ball: 10 most memorable dresses

1. Christina Ricci wows crowds with a dress featuring an extremely over-sized bow...

Miss Knowles stuns with her purple feather decadent train. As for the rest of the dress? Not much of it...

Florence Welch went for layers and layers with her dress, she must have been boiling!

Karolina Kurkova wore a floor length dress that glittered everywhere,  and matched it with a hat made of the same material

January Jones stunned in a yellow and black floor length number

Although it wasn't technically a dress, Coco Rocha wore  this canary yellow and bright pink ensemble, and even matched her top with her hair!

Carey Mulligan turned heads this scaly silver number

Diane Kruger's dress featured a deep indigo and many, many feathers....

Emma Roberts opted for this extremely bright yellow dress and added a belt

Julianne Hough chose this head turning fuchsia pink  dress! I love the fishtail and ruffles detailing!

Cute Clutches

With Spring well in session, but with drab winter colors still littering the high-street, the only thing that can save your favorite outfit now is a clutch... you know what you have to do.

This clutch  is the perfect  addition to your outdated winter outfit, adding a splash of colour yet effortlessly pulling off the understated look... pair it with a blazer and shorts, along with your fave blouse and you've got an up to date spring fresh look. Add a pair of would-be designer sunglasses, massively over-sized and you'll be stopped in the street, or followed by paparazzi mistaking you for celebrities. You can find it in the Jil Sander fall 2012 collection

This clutch can add elegance and sophistication to an outfit, but you might want to add it to an outfit with something more colorful already in it, because this spring it's all about colour. You can get it from Oscar de la Renta's Fall 2012 collection.

This Alexander Mcqueen masterpiece will be sure to add  a touch of sophistication and  chic to any outfit, but I think it 'll look best paired with a black jumpsuit or dress and a blazer for the perfect out-on-the-town nighttime look. True, the oufit won't scream spring freshness, but it will at some classic chic style to your wardrobe. Or of you'd rather, pop on some pastel green shoes, tight trousers and a blouse for a freshened up look that'll have people mistaking you for the editor of... just about any high end fashion magazine! Pick it up fro the Alexander Mcqueen Fall 2012 collection.

This fresh looking clutch is all you need to add a refreshing splash of colour to your outdated winter outfits, bringing them back on trend, and looking new as ever. The green colour means you can't really wear it with anything red or orange, but other than that you can't go wrong. I'd wear it with a white tiered skirt, in a light, flowing material, with a lace collared blouse under an pastel green jumper (a VERY light green, no darker than the clutch itself) for a look that's fine for most occasions. Wear it with flats for everyday, and shiny silver heels at nighttime for an all-round refreshing look. You can find this one in Sara Battaglia's fall 2012 collection.

This Fuchsia pastel DKNY clutch is the prefect shape, size, print and colour. I'm in love with the ostrich print , and the pretty colour finishes the clutch off fantastically. Wear it with just about anything, and  it will look amazing. I'm suggesting you wear it matched with some fuchsia heels, a pencil skirt and a blouse, and of course a blazer (are you starting to see a theme here?) for a daytime, work wardrobe wonder, professional look. If you want a more laid back but none the less stunning look, wear it with leather or wet-look leggings, a plain strappy top, and your favorite jacket. Viola!

Catwalk Clones

It's Monday, It's raining (well, it is where I live...) and there's four days of school until the weekend. So, naturally, it's time to cheer myself (and you) up by picking out some of the latest catwalk copies. whichever way you see it, bargain central or annoying knock-offs, you'll agree the likeness is uncanny, and there's no denying that these high-street looks... are catwalk clones!

The Original: A Lanvin dress, decorated with a Swarovski crystal snake around the neck, costing a pricey £4,032, but hey, you get what you pay for with this stunning dress.

Emma Stone wearing the dress, accessorizing the already glitzy dress to perfection with some simple black heels

The Clone, which can be found at Mcberry.co.uk  for a bargain of £75

The Versace Knockoffs make a reappearance...

Remember that Versace dress Katy Perry wore and the knockoff that was spotted - (if you don't - READ THE DAMN POST) well, I've spotted loads more copies cropping up on the highstreet, and as you can imagine, Gianni Versace must be feeling pretty hacked-off right about now...

The real deal - A cream/white Versace dress that Katy Perry was spotted wearing days before her messy breakup with Russel Brand...
The... well, there really is no nicer way of putting it... knockoff,  which can be found at Republic

A SECOND copy?!?

Designer Dresses V.S their highstreet lookalikes

Got a headache, so I thought it was about time I found some good ol' designer clothes and sought out their evil twins (highstreet versions, or knockoffs, if you're feeling mean) In truth, most of the things you buy from highstreet stores are based on or even downright copying more expensive designer items, and we don't even realise it...

The real deal designed by Victoria Beckham

It's 'twin' from topshop... the similarity is uncanny, isn't it?

Kate Winslet at the Titanic 3D Premiere

Kate Winslet wowed this week at the Titanic premiere, for the second time! Only this time the movie in question is in 3D! Here's what she looked like first time round and second.

Kate Winslet in the movie that made her famous. She looked a tad different then that she does now!

Kate at the Titanic 3D premiere this week, looking completely different but equally stunning!

Ramblings...

Hi! You may have noticed (I hope you did) my last post, which, if you didn't notice, was a Polyvore set I made filled with Hollister clothes... well, what can I say? Most girls (and guys) my age love this brand, it's probably the most popularly worn one on non-uniform days at my school. All the clothes are VERY nice there and although as it is a designer brand, it is a little on the pricey side, but it's much less so than most other designer brands you'll find at your local shopping centre. It also has an amazingly laid back style that's casual and preppy, rather than the chavy and ugly clothes sold by some other designer brands I could mention... Yep, so the set was very random but basically a shopping list for me next time I go shopping (SOON! During the easter break, definitely, but not this weekend as I have a family gathering...) Another thing I like about it (rambling on a bit here, I'm sorry), is that the designs don't have massive logos printed all over them, the ones I've picked out are knitwear and tops, probably the ones with the least logos on in the case of hollister. Last year there were quite a lot of logo designs (with neon pink as well, ugh) , but I think they have got over that now with the mature and preppy knits. It's funny though, because someone I know once said to me "I don't like things from Hollister that don't have a big logo on them, because then people don't know it's from hollister" Well, I'm sure that person would be embarrassed if they read this, which they won't, because no-one I know knows about my blog... anyway, so the point is that some people my age are brand snobs and chavs... and that appears to be the conclusion here...

Spring Trends...

New spring trends: hotness on the highstreet

Spring has officially arrived, bringing with it a whole host of hot new trends. Some of the main ones seem to include pastels, monochrome, spots and stripes, skater dresses, crop-tops and bralets, pink, peach & coral, and printed or coloured jeans. Here's some of my faves:

This river island skater dress is right on trend, especially with the style and lacy material.

This river island bralet fits into three different trends: Monochrome, spots & stripes and  bralets.

These gorgeous new look coloured jeans are definitely on my spring clothes list, the colour is perfect! They nail the coloured jeans trend with no trouble at all!

These are also new look jeans, similar to those Kate Middleton was spotted wearing . They 're  the right pair for you if you're wanting to follow the coral colour trend.

This new look skater dress is right on trend with pinks and the style. Lace is also a  popular  trend on the highstreet , carried on from last season.

This amazing shoe nails the monochrome and spots&stripes trend.

This new look cropped pineapple head tree matches perfectly to the jeans it's pictured with. Unfortunately, I can't find them on the website. Sadface. But I'll find them!!!
